The Opportunity

This opportunity is available on the Operations Support Team within the Pipe Integrity Department as part of the Incident/Issue Support team. The ideal candidate for the role would be a high-performing individual with the ability to work closely with numerous stakeholder groups during the response to pipe integrity incidents and for critical integrity issues.

What You'll Do

  • Lead response to pipe integrity incidents and issues by developing and managing the execution of strategic plans
  • Facilitate meetings (at times 30+ people) for immediate incident response to stabilize and safely return pipeline assets to operation
  • Develop Work Execution Plans with input from Project Management, Operation Planning, Operations and other relevant stakeholders to provide clear direction for field personnel
  • Facilitate/engage with functional and operational stakeholders in a lead capacity as the single point of contact during response and return to service
  • Develop return to Maximum Operating Pressure integrity management plans and participate in discussions with external regulators
  • Lead and coordinate the investigation and corrective actions for critical integrity issues
  • Engage with various regulatory (CER, TSB, PHMSA) during pipeline incidents and critical issues
  • Collaborate with Pipe Integrity Project Management and Operations team to evaluate alternative integrity strategies considering cost, schedule, and risks to return assets to regular integrity management program
  • Coordinate and manage the metallurgical failure analysis
  • Provide concise and accurate communications to upper leadership regarding incident/issue response updates.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support for pipe integrity incidents, as part of an on-call rotation

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in Engineering with a specialty in Mechanical or Materials Engineering. Other engineering disciplines will be considered.
  • Licensed Engineer or Registered Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) is required.
  • A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in pipeline integrity, project management or related field is a requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of overarching aspects of pipeline operations including engineering, safety, and compliance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to deliver technical presentations to a wide range of internal and external audiences
  • Highly focused and process-driven with attention to detail
  • Innovative and self-motivated with excellent analytical, computer and data skills
  • Strong ability to effectively network across diverse areas of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to drive alignment between stakeholders and facilitate effective meetings

This position requires candidates to

  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training (estimated up to 20% of work schedule)
  • Be part of an on-call rotation and provide incident response support
