SAIT's School of Manufacturing, Automation & Transportation provides the skills-based training and development to prepare students for a career in Alberta's rapidly growing oil and gas, transportation, manufacturing and automation sectors. The Opportunity
We have an opening for a Support Services Manager within the School of Manufacturing & Automation (M&A) and School of Transportation (SoT).
Reporting to the Associate Dean, Aviation & Technology the innovative leader will centralize and manage the support services areas of the Schools. The successful candidate has the ability to highly engage and develop a team of administrative and support staff. You would be responsible and accountable for making front-line operational decisions and having direct leadership responsibility for contributing to the achievement of organizational goals.
You will be required to travel to the Art Smith Aero Centre and Point Trotter campuses on an as needed basis.
The Role
Hiring and performance management of support services teams
Provide leadership, coaching and day-to-day operational supervision to support services teams
Establish and communicate work priorities, define strategic goals and team objectives
Manage all central activities and business processes for the support staff in the Schools
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Academic Chairs and Operations Coordinators to ensure excellence and consistency in the delivery of central services
Support the Associate Deans in managing and coordinating budgets and service initiatives
Create and implement innovative workflow efficiencies and quality improvements, ensuring accuracy
Qualifications
Supervisory or leadership experience is required
Experience leading employees in a unionized environment would be considered an asset
Have a minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience
Five (5) years related work experience is preferred
A diploma or degree in administration or a related discipline is preferred
Skills & Knowledge
Demonstrated leadership and decision-making abilities
Ability to influence and build positive relationships
Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills
Demonstrated conflict management and interpersonal skills
Working knowledge of practices and processes related to issues facing public sector organizations
Strong organizational skills, including: creating workflow organization, setting priorities, anticipating issues, tracking projects, and ensuring activities are well-organized, timely and proactive
Effectively manage budgets, quarterly reviews, strategic plans and strategies
Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality, and exercise discretion when disseminating information to others
Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

Salary Range: $100,000 - $105,000
Paid Leave: 4 Weeks Vacation / 14 Flex Days per year
Hours per week: 37.5
