We are looking for a Service Desk Technician to join our EcoLogo-certified facility located in Armstrong, British Columbia. With 3 business units on the same site our Armstrong Division safely and sustainably produces energy from our CoGen Facility, and plywood, veneer and lumber products for customers around the world so they can build their homes and their communities.

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 2 years equivalent work experience in a customer service focused IT role.
  • Experience with service desk ticketing systems.
  • Experience with desktop and server operating systems.
  • Familiarity with networking in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening and questioning skills.
  • Knowledge of basic computer hardware, including desktops, servers, storage, mobile devices and network devices.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office 365 and related applications (Office, Teams, OneDrive).
  • Familiarity with the fundamental principles of ITIL is considered an asset.

In this role, you will:

  • Report to the Lead, Service Desk.
  • Primarily be responsible for Service Request management for the business and manufacturing facilities.
  • Provide Tier 1 support for Tolko standard applications and End User Computing standards.
  • Receive, prioritize, document and actively resolving end user requests and escalating incidents when considered appropriate and necessary to maintain Service Level Agreements.
  • Install & maintain network switches to ensure stable communication across the facility.

  • Manage on-site servers and virtual machines, including monitoring performance, applying updates, and troubleshooting issues to support operational systems.

  • Maintain server racks, UPS units, and other critical hardware to ensure uninterrupted power and operation for essential IT systems.
