The Milton Lodging Program at the Trillium Demonstration School is currently seeking a Student Support Coordinator to play a vital role in the development and implementation of programs, policies, and procedures for students enrolled in lodging school services. You will also contribute to the development and management of programs that complement the achievement of skills which prepare students for academic independence, social and emotional wellbeing and strengthen executive functionality.
Please note: this position is fully onsite and includes on-call hours on evenings and on weekends.
About us: The Ministry of Education's Provincial and Demonstration Schools Branch (PDSB) is responsible for the direct operation of four sites that operate provincial and demonstration schools for pupils who are Deaf, hard of hearing, blind, low vision, Deafblind, and students with severe learning disabilities. The Provincial and Demonstration Schools Branch oversees the policies and operation of the schools. In addition, the schools provide lodging facilities for the pupils; provide alternative programs as part of a continuum of services offered by local school boards; and partner with parents/guardians and external stakeholders in meeting the needs of students who are Deaf, hard of hearing, blind, low vision, Deafblind, and students with severe learning disabilities.
The Trillium School provides intensive and specialized educational and lodging programs for students with severe learning disabilities, and resource services to support school boards in making appropriate provision for students with learning disabilities.

Deliver on Organizational Goals and Priorities Your leadership will be crucial in guiding the team towards the achievement of their organizational goals. It will be your responsibility to inspire and motivate your team to deliver their best performance and align the team's daily actions with the strategic vision of the ministry. As a Student Support Coordinator, you will: • Participate in the development of program objectives, policies and maintain connections with other programs on the campus to continually improve service for its students. • Meet regularly with Manager to discuss/provide solutions on policy and procedural concerns of a sensitive nature with the senior management team. • Identify issues/ evaluates program services to ensure continuous improvement; provides recommendations on policy and procedural changes. • Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, financial and ministry policy commitments and advises management of sensitive issues/matters. • Support a values-based and inclusive team through technical, administrative, and operational direction to staff. • Control and monitor allocated operation budget for the unit/program and regularly provides assurance reports on financial activities.

• First Aid and CPR training are required.
Leadership and Management Skills
• You can supervise and coordinate work by setting and communicating standards and priorities, scheduling, assigning, and reviewing work, monitoring progress, evaluating work performance, coaching, and training staff, and identifying and escalating performance issues. • You have the skills to possess policies and skills to proactively manage and ensure a response to emergency situations. • You can maintain quality and customer service by identifying and providing input into quality programs that engage students attending the Trillium Demonstration School Lodging Program. • You can support the strategic directions and mandate of the facility/program by contributing to the development of planning and organizational goals and objectives. • Reports directly to the Student Support Manager for the Student Lodging Programs on the Milton Campus.
Technical Knowledge and Skills
• You possess the knowledge of the theories in child development/support/recreation to assist in the planning of programs for students with severe learning disabilities, and various neurodivergent structures. • You possess the knowledge of social and emotional implications of students with severe learning disabilities, and comorbid factors of Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), Anxiety, Depression, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder (FASD), and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to ensure programming meets objectives/branch mandates and student achievement plans.
Analytical, Problem Solving, and Planning Skills
• You can ensure the smooth functioning of the Student Support care services, resolve day-to-day issues, and effectively utilize human, material, financial, and professional/technical resources to achieve results. • You can address and resolve complaints with respect to student programming, work through staff relations matters, liaise with community agencies, and facilitate the analysis of risk management issues. • You can ensure that policies and procedures are in place, are being followed, and that staff are trained to ensure the safety and welfare of students, specifically for planning and administering the delivery of programs for students with specialized needs.
Communication Skills
• You can exchange information with management/staff regarding student program/staffing issues. • You can communicate with sensitivity and awareness to a diverse group of stakeholders/clients.
