This is a hybrid full-time role in Ottawa, Ontario CAN.
Position Summary
The ILS Support/Technical Writer will conduct, coordinate and assist in the preparation, revision and support of all products in the Tactical Control Radar (TCR) Technical Data Packages to ensure that the data is accurate, complete and consistent across all ILS deliverables.
Key Areas of Responsibility
• Prepare, author, and/or revise technical publications (CFTO/LSAR/EFT/Technical and Operator Manuals/Training Material) as necessary to support improvements to the technical data package.
• Review products of the technical data package in collaboration with engineers to ensure that the technical data reflects the latest Radar system/equipment configuration, is complete, accurate and consistent.
• Analyze Document Change Requests and liaise with technical contributors as appropriate to address the request and prepare or coordinate the development of the Change Package to identify the technical data package changes and revisions.
• Implement the technical data package changes and revisions or collaborate with procurement personnel to contract out the implementation of the changes and revisions.
• Review and provide concurrence to changes and revisions of the technical data package ensuring the products are technically accurate, logically presented, consistent with the appropriate national defense specifications, formats, and customer requirements.
• Assist with the development of new technical data in support of engineering changes, technical bulletins, logistics support analysis or problem reports.
• Respond to internal and customer comments in a in a timely manner.
• Implement Preventive Maintenance procedure changes in the Logistics Support Analysis Records (LSARs) as required to align with Technical Publication updates and Document Change Package requests.
• Ensure standards, procedures / practices and controls are being followed.
Basic Qualifications
• Possess a minimum of a 2-year technical program diploma offered by a recognized technical institute or eligibility for registration as a technician by a recognized provincial, state, or federal (national) licensing body in a technical field related to telecommunications or engineering, including mechanical, electrical, electronic (including software), technical writing, or equivalent.
• Possess a minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience with the production, revision, publishing and/or coordination of technical data package products including technical publications, systems and equipment manuals, technical drawings and associated lists.
• Language: English (Essential), French (Desirable)
Preferred Qualifications
• Successful completion of the Technical Writer Ontario College Graduate Certificate program or equivalent.
• Experience in desktop publishing processes and graphics production software such as Adobe Suites.
• Knowledge of S1000D specification and IETM format.
• Experience in the Canadian Forces Technical Orders format and the modification of existing OEM Technical Publications into Government Adopted Publications.
• Knowledge of the National Defence Index of Documentation and equipment registration number processes.
• Experience in Logistics Support Analysis Record software and/or manipulating raw .XML data.

Special Position Requirements
Hybrid - 3 days a week onsite
Full time, standard business hours. Some on-site work required in the lab. Possibility of travel to customer site for technical support / installation.
