The role:

We are looking to add a Technician to our dedicated and compassionate team in Ottawa, working out of our 2265 Gladwin Cres location. This is a full time position, working Monday to Friday (with occasional weekends or overtime).

Our Technicians spend their days travelling between client homes and community facilities to aid our clients with their mobility & accessibility needs. Appointments could be to install equipment, assess equipment needs/troubleshoot, or to do repairs. You will work directly with clients to understand their needs and to provide a quality care experience. You will be fully trained on the tools and equipment you will be working with.

If you enjoy both working with your hands and building strong client relationships, this is the job for you!

What’s in it for you:

Growth opportunity. This is a chance to gain deep and practical insights into our industry, be involved in every aspect of what we do, and take ownership for your own success. You will learn the functionality and benefits of our products and services, and work in partnership with healthcare providers, clients, and your colleagues to ensure an exceptional client experience.

Impact. Every day at Motion provides a new opportunity to create a tangible impact on the lives of our clients. You will find deep professional satisfaction knowing that your work matters to people in your community and beyond.

Professional development and networking. At Motion, we nurture a continuous learning and skills development environment. You will have:

  • Access to our internal Learning Portal, where we have a vast library of training on our products and processes and professional development topics.
  • The opportunity to work with industry leaders who will guide you on your journey and ensure you have the tools you need to succeed.
  • The chance to attend industry events, including Motion’s own Rehab Expos, where you can network with vendors, occupational therapists, and your peers.

How you will spend your days:

  • Diagnose and repair. You will quickly learn how to repair wheelchairs and custom mobility equipment and how to navigate our software system. You will assess issues with manual and power devices, troubleshoot batteries and functionality, and repair equipment.
  • Deliver an exceptional Motion customer experience. You will prioritize an empathic, respectful, and friendly customer experience. You will ensure that clients’ needs are met and that we meet our objective to make life accessible for everyone.
  • Be flexible and mobile. You will work 8-hour shifts and travel to clients' homes and community facilities. You are comfortable adapting your daily schedule to meet the changing needs of clients. You will drive a Motion vehicle to and from appointments and be a positive representation of the company in public.

What you bring:

  • High school diploma.
  • Experience using hand and power tools.
  • Some experience working in a customer or client facing position.
  • A background in building, repairing, or tinkering with different equipment or mechanical objects would be considered an asset.
