JOB SUMMARY
The mandate of Traffic Services is to provide traffic operations, road safety, traffic investigations and traffic management in the City of Ottawa.
You are responsible for providing support for various programs across Traffic Services by assisting with collecting, documenting and managing high quality, accurate transportation data from various sources throughout the City of Ottawa.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Post-secondary Student - completion of first year college or university
Less than 4 months of related experience is required, including office experience, working outdoors.
Enrollment in an engineering or computers focused program at either college or university is desirable
Experience collecting and/or working with data.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES
KNOWLEDGE
- Advanced knowledge of the City of Ottawa roadway network.
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.
COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Computer use, Microsoft applications
- Ability to work overtime, weekends and possibly split shifts to accommodate specialized transportation data collection if required. Green patch work boots are required Must have access to a vehicle all working hours (Monday-Friday).
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Language Requirement: Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing. Some positions required French oral, reading and writing.
- Driver's License Requirement: A valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver's license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
