Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of the Centre for Teaching and Continuing Learning, the Manager, Institutional Quality Assurance, will lead and oversee the development and delivery of training and support for programs and individuals engaged in quality assurance processes. The incumbent will be expected to build strong working relationships with faculty members, program administrators, Deans, the Offices of the Provost and Vice President Academic and of the Registrar, and the Chairs of Conseil des Programmes en Français (CPF), Council of English Language Programs (CELP), and the Academic Planning Committee (ACAPLAN).

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Support Programs and Faculty with institutional quality assurance and accreditation processes

  • Create, organize and deliver workshops to elevate understanding of and compliance with quality assurance processes;
  • Develop and deliver workshops in developing course level (CLOs) and program level learning outcomes (PLOs) and alignment with Degree Level Expectations;
  • Coordinate annual orientation for programs undergoing cyclical program review and/or accreditation;
  • Facilitate navigation for programs and faculty through minor and major program modifications, new program development and a cyclical program review;
  • Mentor faculty members and programs in the assessment of student learning outcomes and program outcomes;
  • Support programs and faculty in curriculum design and curriculum mapping, incorporating best practices and evidence-based approaches (including AODA standards); and
  • Support the Office of the Provost and Vice-President Academic with external reviewers as part of IQAP.

Liaison to Quality Council and other committee work

  • Maintain records to ensure compliance with self-study submissions, periodic reports, final assessment reports & implementation plans, and reporting requirements (internal and to the Quality Council), which includes providing support to the Office of the Provost and Vice-President Academic with the submission of the Major Modifications Report;
  • Representative as a Quality Assurance Key Contact to the Quality Council; and
  • This position would be asked to actively consult with CELP, CPF, ACAPLAN, and Teaching and Learning Committees.

Scholarship of Teaching and Learning

  • Serve as a resource for the scholarship of teaching and learning as it pertains to learning outcomes and provide educational opportunities to advance best practices in teaching and learning in different delivery modes, class sizes and with respect to Laurentian University's tricultural mandate; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • University degree in related field (Master's preferred);
  • Minimum five (5) years relevant work experience;
  • Solid understanding of the Ontario Universities Council on Quality Assurance, the Quality Assurance Framework, and the Institutional Quality Assurance Process (IQAP);
  • In-depth knowledge of course and program approval process at CELP, CPF and ACAPLAN;
  • Solid knowledge of accessibility issues and the AODA legislation;
  • Ability to works as part of a team and contribute knowledge and experience in a respectful manner;
  • Excellent presentation skills and a keen interest in sharing knowledge through workshops;
  • Excellent record-keeping skills;
  • Ability to multitask and work to tight deadlines;
  • Ability to work independently and show initiative;
  • Organizational, managerial, supervisory and leadership skills;
  • The ability to work effectively and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment; and
  • Ability to work fluently (verbal and written) in both official languages, French and English, is required.

The official University hours of operation shall be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during, and including, the months from September to April, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Monday through Friday during and including May to August., amounting to thirty-three and three-quarter (33.75) hours per week.
