We have an exciting opportunity in our finance department. We are looking to hire a Director, Business Partner Support for Operating.

What You Will Do

As the Director, Business Partner Support - Operating your primary accountability will be for the overall management of Business Partner support teams that provide strategic financial advice, expert financial analytics, financial planning, and management and controls services to their assigned Business Partners across the organization. This involves the planning, development, management, analysis and recommendation of each Business Partner's multi-year financial plans, annual Operating Budget, future year Outlooks, service levels and performance metrics

You will ensure Business Partner Support teams function as trusted business partners that deliver the highest level of performance, quality and customer service to the organization. This includes developing strong understanding of each Business Partner's strategies, business and service plans, processes and systems; building relationships with senior management; leading through influence; and applying change management approaches and tactics to foster the partnerships needed to fulfill the Department's vision.

As the Director, you will be supporting and collaborating with other financial departments. This includes analyzing operating budget submissions, future year Outlooks, business cases and presentations; prioritizing new budget requests based on the Corporate Plan and business priorities; and recommending the most efficient and effective use of resources and funding to senior management and the TTC Board. Overseeing the incorporation of expected benefits from capital investments provided by the Director, Business Partner Support - Capital into future operating budgets and Outlooks by Business Partner Support teams once capital projects are completed

Your responsibilities will also include leading and/or supporting numerous transformational programs, including the TTC's Finance Transformation and SAP Implementation programs, contributes to corporate business training programs and collaborates with Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis - Operating to improve service delivery to Finance's Business Partners, increase operational and financial performance, minimize risk and ensure leading practices are employed at the TTC.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting or a related discipline, combined with extensive senior experience performing duties related to the key objectives of the position, OR a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent
  • Extensive financial planning and management experience including: applying the principles of multi-year business and service-based planning, budgeting and analysis; evaluation and monitoring; reporting and control in a major public or private sector organization; and in-depth understanding of interdependencies between operating budgets and capital planning, budgeting and project delivery
  • In-depth understanding and application of leading practices, policies, processes and controls to integrate financial, commercial and contract management and ensure goods and services are delivered in accordance with contractual scope, deliverables, timelines, milestones and budgets
  • In-depth experience with relevant legislation and standards related to governance, accountability frameworks and principles, financial planning, budgeting, management reporting and controls, employee and labour relations and occupational health and safety, preferably in a large public sector organization
  • Experience leading organizational change; knowledge of change management principles and ability to advance organizational maturity and create service improvement and efficiencies
  • Proven ability to apply strategic, analytical and conceptual thinking skills and understand complex service, operating and policy issues, evaluation frameworks, program interrelationships and the potential results and outcomes of policy actions
  • Considerable experience in the design, development and implementation of policies and procedures to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the fiscal program and performance
  • Extensive experience and proven ability as a strong leader, including leading, coaching and motivating diverse management teams with the ability to effectively advise on priorities and deadlines, operating as a fully accountable leader
  • Extensive experience preparing comprehensive reports and presentations, and analyzing, interpreting, summarizing and presenting information to support strategic, financial and service decision-making
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to facilitate, negotiate, resolve conflict, problem solve and interact with all levels of the organization to forge effective relationships
  • Sound judgement with the ability to handle matters of a confidential, proprietary or sensitive nature as they relate to the TTC Board and senior staff
  • Experience implementing and leveraging major technology platforms and tools to enable business and process transformation
  • A professional accounting designation is an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computerized applications and advanced functions related to budgeting, accounting, costing and cost control; demonstrated work experience with SAP is preferred
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees
