The Lac La Ronge Indian Band's Woodland Wellness Centre is inviting applications for the following positions based out of the Prevention & Recovery Department in La Ronge, SK:

Support Worker - Prevention & Recovery

2 - Permanent Full-Time

The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:

  • Complete an initial assessment of families' needs so that you can identify and plan the support needed to address issues and prevent any problems from escalating;
  • Assist in regular caseload review meetings with individuals and families during home and community visits to ensure they're fully supported to progress and achieve desired outcomes;
  • Facilitate family and community connections, by working alongside families in meeting case planning objectives and maintaining regularly scheduled visits;
  • Provide transportation of families & community members to scheduled counseling, cultural and land-based activities;
  • Provide and mentor a nurturing and structured environment with positive attachment caregiving;
  • Be a role model and source of guidance for children and families by demonstrating healthy boundaries;
  • Supporting children and families towards the goal of strengthening the family unit;
  • Work as an effective and cooperative team member; Providing appropriate communication between program coordinator, mental health therapists, wellness workers, traditional therapist(s), and families where necessary;
  • Other work-related duties as assigned by Immediate Supervisor.

The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Grade 12 Diploma or Equivalent;
  • Over 1-year experience in the family support services field is preferred;
  • Knowledge of parenting strategies, and child development is preferred;
  • Knowledge of Woodlands Cree Culture, Traditions, and healings;
  • Ability to counsel children, youth, and adults;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Experience working with First Nations communities is an asset;
  • The ability to speak/understand Cree is an asset;
  • Must have a Valid Class 5 Driver's License and own a reliable vehicle;
  • Must provide a satisfactory and recent; Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, & SGI Driver's Abstract.
